The year of the Facebook LIKE, and the Twitter RETWEET Starts with Diggs

Our first big release of 2012 dropped on Jan 2nd. Getbacker Daveed Diggs might be one of the best rappers that I’ve ever heard, and he proves it on his debut album SMALL THINGS TO A GIANT. Now look, I am not one to hand out compliments to rappers. Most are truly awful, have very little to say on or off the mic, can’t be themselves, and spend more time talkin about how they rap than actually ever doing it. This doesn’t mean the best Rapper to me is a preachy, overly honest rapper who doesn’t mention his rappin, lyrical type. This just means that I want to hear something new, want it to feel genuine and not manufactured, want someone who can put me up on game, while also not feeling like that older friend who thinks he’s your uncle, always telling you about what YOU should be doing while his mistakes are just falling out of the closet behind him.
Diggs writes music like he’s that… almost friend down the street that I wish I was closer to because he seems to understand everything going on just a bit better than I do, but when he talks to me he makes me feel like I’m the one with it all figured out. The tone he delivers allows for the perfect invitation to the hood commentary and self- examination that is the plague of my existence. Because of this, his music speaks to me, and I’ll bet it’s not JUST me.
With great production by our very own Getback drummer and live Musical Director Chukwudi Hodge, New getback recruit Gunjan, and production duo WILDMAN/RAD, it’s bay BASS heavy from beginning to end. It has Cameos from all the Getback and Getback affiliated Bay artists - Rob baron, Big Sizz, Lola Nagel, Uncle Hus, Moe Green, Chinaka Hodge, and of course yours truly. Mixed down by our very own DJ Dion Decibels, this album is truly a Getback family affair.
He has been working on this for the past year, but has kept every copy from me… so I too am enjoying it new along with his fans. I want his music to get out there, and am trying to help his sound find its audience any way I can. People often ask us, “How do I help the GETBACK?” The answer is simple. When we post, click SHARE and pass it along. When we tweet, RETWEET to your people. If 1 tells 2, and 2 tell 2, and those 4 tell 2, and on and on, it will get to where it needs to go. Help us keep good art in rotation, check out DAVEED DIGGS new album, and if you like it, pass it along.
Getback.
